Keeping us in stitches

More funnies from the week:
About T disobeying: "What was he thinking?"
While grabbing the fat on my arm: "I like all your meat, Mama."
As I was headed to the restroom: "Run before you have an accident."
"Why does T not like to share your lap? It was mine first."
About Daddy's birthday: "Daddy is having a car salesman birthday party."

Conversation between my sister and Z:
My sister called to tell me that she left my garage door open because BO was in there. I explained to her that she should have just told him to get up and move.

When she hung up with me, Z said: "I would have told you to just tell him to move and we could have put the door down."
Sister asked, "Well, why didn't you tell me?"
His answer: "Acause you just turned around and walked off!"

Two words for you: Miniature MAN

A Marketing Firm's Dream

My little Z is really buying into all the "ammericials" these days. These are two quotes from the past few days:

About a cleaning item advertised:
"Daddy, we really need that. It makes it get white and all sparkly shiny."
When I asked him about the cleaner:
"It's the only one you'll ever need."

About some phonics game:
"Daddy, I need that. It would really help me with my reading."

Mother of the Year

When I was dropping T off at Mother's Day Out this morning I noticed a little girl in a velvet dress getting out of her car. I thought, "Man, they really deck out for MDO." When I walked in the building I saw a little boy with a vest and dress pants on...at this point, I was beginning to wonder, but still in denial of my incompetence, thought that maybe it was just a special event for the older kids. THEN, I saw the sign reminding the parents that today was Christmas portrait day. Please check out what my child was wearing:

While I can clearly see that he is just about the cutest thing EVER, I can also see that he is wearing a PINK shirt. The same shirt that Z called a "girl shirt" before we left the house. BUT, because I love the shirt and T can't refuse to wear it yet, he wore it! Not exactly what I would have picked for his first ever school pictures.

We kindly declined the photo shoot.

Clearly, I have it all together.

I made the boys these t-shirts for the season

We are ready for a fun Christmas season!

Happy Birthday, Baby!

Today is my man's 30th birthday. I could list 30,000 things that I love about my husband, but for the sake of time, let me just tell you the BEST part of my life with him. He is my very best friend---and has been for almost 15 years.

That pretty much sums it up.

Happy Birthday, Baby!

Camp David

When Uncle David comes to town it means one thing: FISHING!! The boys LOVE to go fishing at Jackpaw's with him, but the best part of it is that I think he may like it as much as they do!!! Depending on which story you hear, Z caught between 8 and 13 fish and the biggest one weighed about 15 pounds. That sounds like a true fisherman tale to me. The weather was so cold, but it didn't stop these sportsmen.

Here is the reward after a day of fishing:

DELISH, and we gave the ole Turkey a break!

Much to be thankful for

One thing that my family had to be especially thankful for was my stepsister Brandi's life. She was in a terrible car accident on Wednesday afternoon and while her injuries were bad, it could have been much worse. We are so thankful that God spared her life for us, but, most of all, for her husband and children.

When my mom and stepdad visited today, she was conscious, sitting up and talking. What an answered prayer! She is expected to move out of ICU this evening. Please continue to pray for her recovery. My prayer has been that she will be able to come home in time to spend Christmas with her kiddos.

Thanksgiving: Part Two

After filling up at Sister's, we were off to The Milams. There was lots of food, family, fellowship, football, and family pics. Thanks to Kelli for getting great pictures!

I don't mean to brag, but I must report that my team won the football game. AND, most importantly I made my first career touchdown. (I actually CAUGHT the ball!!) I have a feeling it's the first of many. Isn't it a necessity to know how to play football when you are raising boys?!

Thanksgiving Day: Part One

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. We have so much to be thankful for--we need a whole week to celebrate!

On Thanksgiving Day we went to my sister's house for lunch. All the kids had a blast playing together and the adults enjoyed eating and laughing. My sister gave us much to be entertained by. Don't expect a cookbook written by her anytime soon. Let's just hope that she cooks the cornbread before putting it in the dressing next year!! :) AND, if you have any questions on cleaning and cooking a turkey--just call her...she is an expert now.

Even with all that, the food was delicious! (Thanks to Mrs. Hart for her emergency dressing after the original was slightly botched!) Plus, Sister's house looks awesome. It's her first holiday in her new home and she already has a Christmas tree up in almost EVERY room. Talk about overachiever!

Good Day

Sunday, we had a relaxing and fun day of hanging out at home. The weather was beautiful and the boys loved playing outside. I think any time you end the day looking like this-it's a great day!

(I wish I had gotten a picture of his legs and feet...I couldn't believe how DIRTY he was!)

Dribble it, Pass it...

Tonight the boys and I went to watch Raegan's basketball game. She is so fun to watch. She is quite a little hustler! I didn't get ANY good pics because my camera blurs when I take action shots. That is why I am begging for a new camera from Santa. (you know who you are!!)

Z packed his "gym bag" before going to the game. He refused to wear what he would be wearing during the game because real basketball players don't wear their "forms" to the gym. When we got to the school, he quickly changed and was all set!

Thanksgiving Feast

TLC had their feast on Thursday. My pilgrim sure was cute!

Happy Birthday, Friend!

Today is one of my best friend's birthday. (I am getting teary eyed just writing this because I miss her so!) Just wanted to say happy birthday to Jamie and tell you why she is such a wonderful-one-of-a-kind person.

*She is ALWAYS there for you...for babysitting, good food, great sweets, a listening ear, a playdate, a prayer warrior, a lunch date, or just for a good laugh. I asked her to pray about something just 2 days ago and today I got a card in the mail saying she was indeed praying about it and thinking about me. Friends like that are uncommon!

*She cooks so good it makes me crazy. She is always cooking and she even cooks from scratch. (I don't really even know what that means.) She gave me a cookbook from her family's favorite recipes and they all look so good, BUT some of the recipes have 2 pages of ingredients...I get overwhelmed just reading them. One day I am going to make something out of that book and I am sure it will be divine! Even Z knows that she is good for a treat...we were on our way out to the park one day to meet she and her little guy and I told Z that we needed to pack some snacks. He said, "Mrs. Jamie always brings some. She will share with me." He's no dummy--he knows her homemade rice krispy treats put my packaged fruit snacks to shame!

*She is surprisingly funny! Every once in a while she will say something that makes me laugh every time I think of it.

*She is an inspiration to me in this whole "mommy" job. She has patience like I have never seen. (She says that she loses her temper, but I really think she just tells me that to make me feel better.) She is always teaching her children, whether it be about nature or new bible verses....it never seems like they have an idle moment without learning something.

*She is a great example of what a Godly wife looks like.

*And the best part of it all is that she does it all with ease...and looks dang good doing it!!

Happy Birthday, Jamie! I love you!

Too good not to share

I know I said I would save all our "baby talk" for a weekly post, but this is too funny to wait on. We passed a funeral procession while running errands today. For those of you who aren't Texans, we all pull over until all the cars pass. Z is very observant and had a thousand questions regarding the happenings around us. Once I semi-explained what the cars were for he asked, "Did God already take that man's stirut (spirit) to heaven?" I told him that as soon as we die God takes our "insides" and that your family can bury your body. He said, "Then why is he driving???"

Apparently I missed an important part of my explanation!

In our discussions he also said:
"I don't want a new body in heaben. I like mine and my legs will never get old and not work."
"I will see my crabs in heaben. I miss them. What was their names?"

And my absolute favorite:
"I can't wait to see what heaben's like. It will be so great!"

AMEN, baby! At least he understands somethings that I say!

More baby talk

I probably could do a post a day on this. Maybe I will make a list of all the funny things that are said around here and do a post a week. I know once T starts really talking, I will have much to report.

To Luke:
"I know you are our dog and I know we got you, but you are bugging me."

About our older and younger (7 year old) dogs:
"Bo is old, but Luke is brand new."

My mom was asking him about his friends at school:
"I only play with fours. I don't play with L anymore acause he is only three."

She asked if he had any friends that he played with that were girls:
"Just today. I got her for my friend today."

He got new brown church shoes and said:
"I wanted black car salesman shoes."

When T got a hold of an old electric razor that Z "shaves" with:
"Please hide this acause I don't want any little kids playing with it."

What did he report that he was thankful for at the Thanksgiving feast at his school??
"my blower, my weed eater, my house, my daddy and my mommy."

Please notice the order that they appear!

I asked him if he forgot about T and he said he would add that later.

You know he can only put so many things on his list...and with so many powertools...a guy runs out of room.

I am just grateful that I was included!

Out of the mouths of babes

Z says things everyday that crack us up. Here are a few from the past week.

After noticing several bumble bees near our trash can outside
"We have a serious bee issue!"

Showing me how a toy works:
"This is the situation..."

Before going on a walk with me:
"My legs don't feel like exercising today, they feel like going to a friend's house to play."

I asked Z what T was carrying around in the yard:
"I don't know, but he definitely dug it up somewhere."

When I picked him up at school:
"How did T do without me?"

Naming his favorite toy at school:
"A board."

When I inquired about that choice:
"They are really cool because you can screw in them, drill in them, and saw them."

Christmas shopping ought to be super easy this year!

Our Sailorman

Z was Popeye two of the times that he dressed up for Halloween. I realized that I had never posted him in his cute outfit. These pictures are from the lunch at his school where he served his family. He loved being a waiter and loved having an entire table full of his guests.

Lifetime of Love

My grandparents were married in 1938. I am amazed at how much their love for one another is still evident almost 70 years later.

While my grandfather is still as sharp as a tack, my grandmother's health and mind are failing. Although she doesn't seem to know what is going on around her at most times, she undoubtedly knows when "her man", as she still calls him, is in the room. When she seems agitated or confused, sitting her by her husband is all it takes to calm her. She snuggles up to him, holds both his hands, and lays her head on his shoulder. In that position she will sit peacefully for hours. I even witnessed her blow him a kiss from across the room yesterday.

Granddad is so patient and loving to her, never seeming frustrated at her constant chatter. He will lean over and kiss her forehead with a smile on his face. Yesterday he sat telling stories of their courtship, engagement, and honeymoon. I think he would have continued as long as he had an audience.

I am so thankful for the time I have been able to spend with them over the past week. What wonderful role models on what a lifetime commitment "through sickness and health, until death do us part" truly looks like.

Superheroes

A friend of Z's gave him a box of dress-up clothes for his birthday. What an awesome idea! He has dressed and redressed himself a hundred times a day since he opened that present. Tonight he and his little brother were Batman and Robin. I don't know when I have seen something cuter!

Birthday Bash

Another Milestone

Saturday morning before his big party, Emma helped Z learn how to ride his bike without training wheels. I think this picture pretty much sums up all of our reactions!

Thanks, Aunt Kelli, for the picture! I hope to put a video on soon.

Four of a Kind

Here are four generations of JWM's. I am so proud of this picture! Three of them actually answer to Jack. My brother is Tripp.

Welcome

Yesterday Sister and I (and most of our brood) went to the MP airport to welcome my dad's parents. We haven't seen them in WAY too many years and they have never even seen either of my kids. It was great to see them, and I was surprised at how little they had changed over the years. The kids thought it was exciting to see the plane land and watch them get out right infront of us. Grandmother's vision has gone and she was understandably overwhelmed and confused yesterday. Z was so sweet to just stand next to her and hold her hand.

The highlight of the reunion for me was when my 97 year old granddad patted my belly and asked if I was "expecting another one". Good times!

As the Bell Tolls

Our city has recently built a bell tower in downtown. KK and Jackpaw got all of their grandkids a brick at the base of the bell. Today was our first time to go by and see our little part of Mt. Pleasant history.

I thought it was so cool that all six of our bricks were in a row.
