Soccer Practice

Thursday was Z's first day of soccer practice. He is on a 6 and under team so we knew at four he would be the baby. We also knew that because we live in an area with a very high Hispanic population that his team would probably have several Spanish speaking kids on it. What we didn't anticipate is that the vast majority of his teammates would speak Spanish, along with is coach!!!

He hung in there for the most part, but got pretty frustrated because he couldn't understand any instruction from his coach. Not to mention that the Hispanic kids are older and have obviously been playing the sport since they could walk! We have tried to encourage him by letting him know that he will get better with each practice, but I am seeing that it's not going to be the fun activity that we had planned. Just two weeks until the first game...

Oh, he looks so cute. I'm sad for him though that he couldn't understand the coaching! :(

We were playing "I spy" at breakfast yesterday, and Rhett said, "I spy something blanco." I thought it was funny. Z might be bilingual by the end of the season--kids learn so quickly! :)

Poor Z! Maybe he will learn a few phrases that will stay with him! Hope he hangs in there...can't wait to see the pics of the first game.
