5K

I have been holding a little bit of information from you, but I got a picture of the event today so I decided it was time to share.

I ran in a 5K race on Saturday. I have been running for a few months, saw that there was going to be one in our city and just decided to do it. I also was encouraged by my fellow runner, Nancy, to sign up (even though she was conveniently in Hawaii on Saturday). I really loved doing it and was really proud that I ran the whole thing without hyperventilating or dying!

Here's the great part...I won 1st place! Although there were a lot of people in the race, there must not have been many in my age division. I have gotten the biggest laugh out of my 1st place prize and I have to say that it's the first time I have ever won 1st place in ANYTHING!

I'll let you know when my marathon debut is...

Game Day

I have reported on the fact that Z is a minority on his soccer team before. Never has it been more obvious than on our first game day. If I hadn't seen it for myself, I truly wouldn't believe it!

Our team name--BIMBO! Don't know what that exactly means in Spanish, but in my language it has a meaning that I don't necessarily want on my kid's jersey.

Yes, that is a beer logo on the back of his shirt. You may not be able to tell that the coach tried to mark it out with a sharpie marker because the league will not allow sponsors such as Corona on 4 year olds' uniforms. Imagine that!

My little one was still adorable and had a good time playing. The other team didn't show so our team had a scrimmage among themselves. Here are some pictures of him playing and of his entire fan club that showed to support him.

BTW, the coach told us that he would supply us with socks, and didn't bring them. That is why my child has shin guards on with no socks over them.

Hoops for Heart

Z's school had Hoops for Heart on Friday afternoon. The kids of Brain Gym played against the high school team. The kids' dads got to help a little too. It was a great time and for a great cause.

The older team was so sweet to our little team

This was after Z stole the ball away from a big guy

These are the cupcakes I made earlier in the week for snack

I hate to brag, but they turned out pretty dang cute!

Family Portrait

Below is the first family portrait that Z drew of our family

I am the second one from the left. Does anyone else see that I am TWICE the size of everyone else in the drawing?! He told me that I had just woken up--that explains the hair problems. He told his daddy that he "accidentally made Mommy fat."

Yeah, right.

Beach 2008

I finally got my beach pictures downloaded. I really did try to only put my favorites on here, but there were so many that I loved. I am not going to lie...there's about a million! So get comfortable.

We were blessed with safe travels, perfect weather, good health and a PawPaw and Grana who not only treated us to a vacation, but babysat a lot!! It was a wonderful trip and I am already looking forward to next year's visit to the beach.

Happy Mother's Day

I hope your mother's day was wonderful. We had safe travels home from the beach and then unpacked and rested. The pictures below show the boys presenting me with my special gift that they helped Daddy wrap.

Any gift from this precious face would be perfect

I've got the best job in the world!

Happy Birthday, Grelyn

We attended Grelyn's Puppy Party on Saturday. The party was so cute, and her mom even made the cake. Grelyn got a tiny poodle for her birthday--and you should see all the accessories she and her new pooch got.

Our Favorite Time of Year

Sunday night we put our boat in the water for the summer. The boys were so excited to go for a short ride. The sky was just perfect for a cruise around the lake. Let the fun of boating season begin!

Tour de Park

Friday we picked up Emma a little early from school and were so excited to head to the park for a bike ride. I bought a new seat for T to ride in on the back of my bike and we were pumped up to use it. Here are some pictures from our day.

Don't let the smiles mislead you...the outing was a total disaster. Emma posted about it on her blog and I think her eight year old perspective pretty much sums up my thoughts on the day. Click here to enjoy.

Our Lil' Bullrider

Last Sunday our church had a picnic that had to be moved indoors because of the weather. The facility that our sunday school department used had a mechanical bull. The older kids all took a turn, and then my little one thought he needed to give it a try. He held on tight for a while, but was bucked off in the end. He landed right on his face, and it didn't phase him a bit.

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys...

That's becoming increasingly more difficult no that we've moved into Cowboy Country!!
